Consider having them refurbished and brought back into specification rather than replacing them. It’s a lot cheaper than buying new ones. And, with the new chrome finish they should last a long, long time before needing to be refurbished again.
Pricing is based upon just how far your molds are out of tolerance. We’ve found that many of the molds we have done so far are actually egg-shaped inside. This condition requires more grinding operations and more chrome plating, which will increase the cost.
Prices shown below apply to molds that are not badly worn. Some molds were a millimeter out and the cost to refurbish them was $1,048.00.
Keep in mind that it’s still less than the cost of a new mold and your refurbished mold is going to not require refurbishing for probably over 20 years. We cannot predict how much your molds will cost until they are actually measured in the shop prior to the refurbishing, at which time we will contact you and give you a definite cost.
In order to reduce your costs, consider buying your own internal 3-point digital bore gauge (enter ME-5000 into the SEARCH window on our Home Page) and checking the molds frequently – at least twice a year and probably more if you use them a lot.
