Our Spring Compression Tool makes it a lot easier and a lot less aggravating. One of the troubleshooting tips for “Why is my GILSON shaker not shaking evenly across the screen trays?” is to inspect the four springs found in the top corners of the shaker. Many times, a spring is actually broken and unable to give the rebound the screens need for even material distribution. Unfortunately, it’s not always as easy as just looking at the springs to see if they are intact or in pieces, because they are in compression, held by the nut and bolt holding them in place. This results in having to remove the nut from the bolt and see if the spring slides off the bolt in one piece or ten pieces. Getting the old spring/new spring back on the bolt and holding it there while the lower nut and washer are threaded back onto the bolt is difficult, to say the least.
