Additional Information
Product Description
The Ploog Continuous-Flow Filterless Centrifuge Extractor is designed to recover mineral fines from bitumen-laden solvent generated during asphalt extraction testing. The high-speed centrifuge continuously separates solids from the solvent suspension, allowing laboratories to recover fine mineral material for analysis without relying on conventional paper filtration.
Key Features
- Supports ASTM D1856 and AASHTO T 164
- Designed for recovery of mineral fines from asphalt extraction solvent
- Continuous-flow operation allows suspension to be fed until the solids-retaining capacity is reached
- Operates at approximately 11,000 RPM
- Special aluminum beaker retains separated mineral solids
- Solvent moves through the overflow system while fines remain in the beaker
- Includes No. 18 / 1.0mm and No. 200 / 75µm inlet sieves
- Can be incorporated into asphalt solvent-extraction workflows
- 120V, 230V/60Hz, and 230V/50Hz configurations available
Included Items
Filterless Centrifuge Extractor, two aluminum centrifuge beakers, No. 18 / 1.0mm sieve, and No. 200 / 75µm sieve.
Typical Applications
Recovery of mineral fines from asphalt extraction solvent, asphalt binder-content testing, aggregate gradation correction following extraction, asphalt mix analysis, DOT asphalt testing, contractor QC, commercial laboratories, and asphalt mix-design research.
Lab Manager's Tip
The filterless centrifuge does a different job than the primary centrifuge extractor. The primary extractor removes binder from the asphalt mixture; this unit is used afterward to recover mineral fines suspended in the solvent. Recovering those fines is important when accurate post-extraction aggregate gradation is required.
