Lab Manager's Tip

Use suitable vacuum tubing, maintain the oil level and consider an exhaust-mist filter for indoor operation. For AASHTO T 209/ASTM D2041 theoretical maximum specific gravity testing, the assembled vacuum system must achieve and hold the method's specified absolute pressure; the pump's ultimate rating alone does not establish system compliance.
