Gilson Mechanical Marshall Compactors with rotating bases provide automatic hammer operation and mold rotation for consistent preparation of hot-mix asphalt specimens. Available for both 4" and 6" Marshall specimens, these heavy-duty compactors operate at 64 blows per minute and incorporate programmable controls and enhanced safety features for routine asphalt mix-design and QC testing.

Lab Manager's Tip

Select the compactor around the specimen size your laboratory uses most frequently. The 4" MS-54 uses a 10lb bevel-faced hammer, while the 6" MS-56 uses a 22.5lb hammer. Both can be converted to the alternate specimen size with the appropriate conversion kit, making this a good option for laboratories that occasionally need both sizes.
